I just heard, so thought I would spread the word about a speaking event that's coming up this April. Dr David Ross, an avid saltwater fisherman, will be speaking at the Great Bay TU general meeting.

He's going to be presenting on how an understanding of marine science can help you find and catch more fish. I've read his book, "The Fisherman's Ocean", and would argue its a must-read for any saltwater angler. The info in the book helps a ton, when you're out on the water, it makes you understand what's going on, where the fish might be, and why!

Check it out, here's the posting from the Great Bay TU's web site (the web address for their site is: http://www.greatbaytu.org/):

Dr David Ross to present on: How Science Can Help You Find & Catch More Fish.
April 6, 2009

Dr David RossDr. David Ross, senior scientist emeritus at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute on Cape Cod, ardent saltwater fly fisher, and author of The Fishermans Ocean, will discuss in detail how marine science relates to fishing success.

Turning Marine Science into clear practical information for the angler, Dr Ross will discuss fishing science, such as environments, currents, tides and rips, fish behavior, senses and biology. He'll present on how science, and scientific understanding can be applied to fishing, whether fresh or salt, (estuaries, the surf and offshore waters), all from the perspective of both scientist and avid angler.
