I'm looking for some advice on DIY in the above places. I am in the early stages of planning to spend a few months heading down the coast through the above countries towing my own Panga via my own car. I'll start in Mexico where i'm sorted for the permits and contacts, but not so for the other countries listed above. I'm looking for any advice really from people who have any experince fishing the Caribbean coasts of the above places, specifically i'm looking to find out:

- Permit / license requirements of recreational fishing on ones own on a catch and release basis and where said permits can be aquired.

- Particular out of the ordinary safety and security and security risks of fishing as a 'gringo' in said areas.

Thanks in advance

Sounds like an epic journey. I only have a little experience fishing in belize. Bones are everywhere and pretty easy to catch. I used really small crazy charlie's in lite pink and was very succesful. I wish I had more info. for you.
Cheers

I'm off to Belize on Sat. will fill in all the details when we return. We are not staying at a fancy lodge, but we do have a guide booked. Its a return trip, last year was great, but always room for improvement

I'

Ive traveled and fished in the places you mentioned, some of them extensively.

I would be less than excited about driving through Mexico, and northern Baja right now. Places like Sinaloa, Cancun etc. are having serious security problems.
You should do some research. There's lots of information about it on the internet.
Things are not safe there. Too bad because there's some great fishing areas in the "no go" zone.

Belize has some great fishing areas and things are okay down there.
Check this out for information.

Guatemala is Sailfish paradise. You should try to hook up with a lodge down there for a special rate to stay there and launch your boat.
You can get you're license and any other documentations through them.
I would check with the Embassy's for each country.

Sounds like an epic journey.
Bring lots of spare tires, a good gas can, and stuff. Lots of bad roads, cattle crossings, and wild animals.

Check the weather too. You don't want to go during the rainy season. You could be roadless!
