Last minute change in plans gave us 4 days on Sanibel. Hit the causeway beaches each morning with fair results- 2 snapper bluefish, 1 nice spanish mac, and a bunch of leather jacks. Last morning I went to a bigger fly to get away from the leather jacks and was rewarded with 2 jumps from a nice slot-ish snook. Unfortunately, the old "trout strike" is a bad habit and particularly unfortunate when combined with a circle hook.
Bait was everywhere, and, with the exception of Weds morn. (after the cold front blew through), I think I could done better if I'd put more that 1.5 hrs into it each a.m. Tides were bad too- single high in the afternoon each day!
Thursday (my last) a.m. I was looking up across to Sanibel and saw a spinner shark jump in the middle of the sound! It was very cool. At first I thought it must have been a dolphin, but it never came back up for air.
Hit the fishing pier and DD with the kids- highlight was my 9 y.o. daughter's 24" spanish mac: cast, hooked and landed solo. She's got IT. DD was a bust (day after cold front). I have learned what the worst driving combination on earth is:

For crying out loud people, it's a bird! Just drive the car!!!! ;)
