I haven't done any local trout fishing since I came here so many years ago and I'm getting the itch to get out, but I don't have time for a western excursion right now. I'd prefer to hit a stream instead of a pond. I seem to remember seeing a promising stretch of water in Georgetown. Any general ideas, suggestions? Southern NH is an option too.
Thanx!

I've never fished them, but the Parker and Ipswich rivers are supposed to have some decent stretches. Otherwise, the Squanacook and Nisittisit rivers might not be too far away.

i live near the parker river and fish it often. Its a great river when its not being over fished. Often youll drive by and see 4 or 5 different groups of people fishing one specific place ( central street bridge ). Ive found the best way to fish the river is to canoe it and use small spinners, salmon eggs or fly fish dry flies. There are a couple of nice deep holes and overhangs on the river so check a chart before you go and youll be golden. good luck

i grew up in georgetown, much of the upper parker river, where it flows out from pentucket pond is very fishable.. not wadable though. a lot of it is narrow and dark.. but there are definitely trout in there.. but be wary of the black flies.. they are thick thru there.. from crane pond downwards into byfield is fishable by canoe.. and thats the only way to fish it from byfield outwards to the brackish areas..

In southern NH you have the Merrimack-Great Smallmouth fishing and, above Concord some decent trout fishing in areas like Sewalls Falls(Concord), Boscawan, W. Franklin from Rte.11 upstream to the dam on the Pemigewasset is C&R and has some nice trout.
Also, try The Suncook from Allenstwon to Barnstead and Soucook from the Merrimack to Loudon.
Further north, try the Newfound, Baker and upper Pemigewasset.

Did you end up hitting the parker? I never got up there last year, but the kayak is all ready as soon as the stock it this spring.

Didn't make it down there today.......web site lists only ponds and lakes as being stocked thus far. Shouldn't be long now........or could just shoot up to the SR for some monster browns and steelies.
