Any leads on a boat rental on Mosquito Lagoon. The only one I have seen so far is a 20 foot bass boat for 360 dollars for eight hours.

Don't really need anything that fancy, mabe a 14 footer with a 9.9, just looking to explore around the islands and walk across to the beach.

Any links would be appreciated.:)

No, thank you.

I think the boat you mention is the only one rented there and, thank God the owner sensibly restricts it's useage. Fortunately, most of the Mosquito lagoon is bordered by Canaveral National Sea Shore and Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and there are no boat livreys on it. The only islands are floating hammocks where I'm sure the Alligators would relish coming upon an explorer up to his waist in mud.

Also, most of the water outside the Inland Waterway channel, which runs north/south within the lagoon, is restricted to paddling and polling and it's all too visible what irresponsible boaters have done in the past to destroy the bottom of some prime flats and degrade a quality experience for those who appreciate it. Without a paddle or pole you cannot legally reach the barrier beach from the west side by water except in a very few unmarked locations.

Of course, there are kayak rentals available in Titusville and Cocoa and New Smyrna Beach. And you can drive to Playalinda beach on a paved road within the national seashore.

I think the boat dealer below also rents boats for $15 per foot for the day.

Nearest location is Melbourne - about 30 miles south of Mosquito Lagoon but with good access to the Indian River Lagoon and offshore through Sebastian Inlet.

Thank you for the input and advice. I think we will most likely go with either a canoe rental or kyak rental on the Lagoon.......while I have you any experience with

Not familiar with the airboat guides you show. We did not in the Everglades last year. It was fun. However, if you want to see wildlife, take a pontoon boat tour or a guided kayak tour in the Merritt Island NWR area or Thousand Islands area. Where will you be staying?

You also might want to contact theses guy's...

http://www.mosquitolagoonfishcamp.com/

They are a good source for lodging on Mosquito Lagoon; if you have or own boat you can motor up to the lodge after fishing all day. They might be able to advise about boat rentals.
