had a successful weekend trip to the Salmon River this past weekend. fished the DSR and with the high flows the crowds down there were very light. Nice misx of Steelhead and browns all taken on sucker spawn patterns, right angle nymphing using 3x tippet.

That's an awesome steele man! My buddies were up there but said the high flow really made things tough. Any colors working particularly well?

No particular color was hot. Caught fish on orange, o-cheese, blue and yellow. I like higher flows especially at DSR. Fish hold in different lies then the usual spots and you have to move around till you find fish. Plus it keeps the crowds down for the most part.
Wish I could hook a brown like that around here! Very nice....

That's great. I'm trying to plan a trip up there for the end of april but I don't have a lot of experience fishing the salmon when the flow is up.

PM me your contact info and I can give you some tips. Last year at the end of April and the beginning of May the fishing was great. The river was loaded with fish. Once the big runoff occurs and the river runs 4000-5000cfs wait until it drops to 2000 or less then go. The fish will be everywhere.
