Does anyone know of any accomodations in southern Bahamas that might be hotel style and close to the flats and guides? This year the wife (non-angler, in fact she is starting to get bummed I travel with out her so much)) may come with. We've been to GB but I don't want to take the chance with cold fronts. Not only for me but her as well. Love the Bahama flats but have also considered Viques.
Cold fronts are a fact of life all over the Bahamas, and even in the Caribbean, esp Jan-March. Granted, by going south, you may lessen their impact, but not eliminate them IMHO.
Have you ever looked at Anegada?

There is not much in the way of Grand Bahama/Nassau type hotels in the southern Bahamas. There is a Club Med on San Salvador and there is DIY fishing there but no true guides that I know of. There are nice smaller places to stay on Cat and Long Islands. Once you get down to Acklins, Crooked, Mayaguana and Inagua there is little but fishing lodges and small places run by locals. You could look at Turks Caicos but it is expensive there for lodging and guides.
Bob is right about the cold fronts too. My last trip to Inagua was in February 08 and we hit a cold front down there that really slowed the fishing compared to previous trips. Thats as far south as you can get in the Bahamas. Its less likely south but not a sure thing.

...Is Cuba out of the equasion?...
More than a few "All Inclusive" vacation resorts nearby "guided and DIY" fishing areas.
