Broke out the float tube last evening in pursuit of stocked trout over in Haverhill. Did the Panther Martin - Kastmaster - Rapala routine but no takers...until pickerel stepped in to save the day.
Had seen a swirl in this cove the night before and so decided to work it with the Rapala. Always love the first tug after the long hiatus.
Had a take on the next cast as well, watched as the V-wake slid up behind the plug, brief pause, then that lightening quick attack. It never gets old.
So glad to be back on the water.

I'm about 4 hours from wetting a line for the first time this season myself.

Although there won't be any pickerel in the skinny water I'll be fishing!

If the pickerel is referred to as Mr., I think this pike deserves to be called 'sir'. :)

Yeah, I caught a pretty nice one at the 'chu on Sunday; kept me from getting skunked. About 3-4 lbs; he put up a pretty good fight.
