Has anyone been to any cape ponds lately cause I'm wondering if its worth making the short trip there and test my luck.

I've been prospecting them for a couple weeks now, and the prospecting is mighty slow.(#$119) All the ponds have been stocked, some 2x. But don't know if it's the cold water temps, or the constant 25mph winds we've had, but it's been sloooowwww.

Yea that's what I've heard sounds like the spring on cape cod

Slow is an understatement, it's more like everything has come to an abrupt halt. The fish are nowhere to be found, it seems once they are put in they go to the middle of the pond and sit on the bottom in a warm spring hole or something.

I am a firm believer that this is a trait of the rainbows every time they put them in. I for one would like to see more browns and brookies get stocked.

Water temp was still 48 today and I will be out again tomorrow, waiting for the trout like the stripers to show up.

Slow going up here as well......but I'm getting some action in the bigger streams and small rivers.

I may go out this weekend. Th problem with this time of year is that I know I should fish in the ponds but the slight chance of a striper always makes me miss some good freshwater fishing.:-%

Wind/cold water= sloooooooo fishing. Been out a few times and havent got any.Seen some powerbaiters gettin a few which makes me think that they are still hanging around the bottom. But who knows , give it a try, sometimes you just cant tell when they will turn on.

Went out Saturday around 10am to a Pond in Plymouth, the fishing wasn't too bad. 6 Rainbows and 2 Smallmouths. The rainbows were a decent size, 13-14" and the small mouths were around 3-4lbs. Caught them all on a 5wt sink tip using a yellow woolly bugger. The best day I've had in a month.

The few trrout I've been managing so far this season have prefered the yellow Wooly as well, and the black has gone ignored?

The wind definitly needs to be calmed down and those trout sound pretty good in plymouth. I've heard the cape trout are pretty small besides the hold overs

Too windy for the fly rod today....at least in my hands......it'll be spinner attack as soon as I get out of work.

found dozens of midging fish, all cutthroats, managed to get about 8-9 eats in ~1.5hrs after work, landed maybe 6? all good looking, healthy fish, biggest maybe 17". all caught on midge emergers/adults, although there were little black stones around as well. it was about 58degrees with barely a breath of wind. noone else around. quite a bit west of Boston...:-%

Fished again today, windy and water temp still 46.

Managed to drop 2 and catch 5 fish all bows, 2 on black wooly bugger, 2 on a Muddler and one on olive wooly bugger.

That's a real good fish there and sounds like a real solid trip doesn't sound like that is the consensus. I hope I have luck similar to that.

Vincent, if you're referring to my report, I wouldn't expect that on the cape. I actually was on the Snake River in Wyoming, where I live. I grew up fishing the Cape ponds and salt so I check the site periodically and thought I'd kick in a positive report, although it's not EMass waters.

Sorry to do it to ya, JackDuckHunter. Headed back out today after work then over to the Henry's Fork tomorrow. :-%

Yeah that was a dirty trick! I was out in Colorado last summer and had an awesome trip. Next summer we're planning on hitting the South Fork Flathead River for a hike in week long adventure. Ever been in there?

Haven't been to the SF Flathead, but a week in the wilderness fishing sounds awesome. Ive heard good things about the fishing up there, Bob Marshall Wilderness? Best part of my summer are the trips into the Wind River Range south of here. Worth checking out if you are into backpacking/wilderness fishing. Vast area and some great fishing.

Sorry for the hijack
