But I thought I'd give a general report of 6 trips over the course of the past 2 weeks, looking for trout. 5 of these trips were in the local/Metro West area (Cotichuate and Hopkington Res) and resulted in NO trout caught.

I did catch a few bass and pickeral on small kastmasters meant for trout while fishing Cotichuate (completely skunked in Hopkington in two trips). The latest trip was last night to Cotichuate and I scored on one lone pickerel. But it was the only time this season I saw fairly consistent trout rising (a bit too far out).

The one trip that was not in the immediate area was a trip to Peter's Pond down in Sandwich/Mashpee last sunday and I did have fairly good luck there. While basically on day out with my daughter and her pet pug, and we stopped at the pond for about an hour and half. And in that time, I managed 4 rainbows on a small gold kastmaster (1/8 oz). If I was 'allowed' to stay a little longer into the evening, I'm sure things would've lit up even better - but my daughter had enough and to her point, we did stop over a few other places to fish (including a unsuccessful stop at Scorton's Creek) and she probably had enough.

I'm glad to read that Wachusett has woken up, albeit with small fish - it'll keep the interest until stripers show up in the salt. So I'll probably concentrate my efforts over there for a short while.

I hear what you are saying 6 trips to Ashland and Hopk Res and only 2 trout caught dropped a couple too. Water went from 38 to 43 degrees fish started biting, but real slow we need more sun.
