Late saturday when the tide was up, I saw the abundance of the herring in that run. They were "flying" up the ladder. Midday there were plenty to day but not the same quanity. There is an article in the cape cod times about the numbers being up in all the major runs.

Bob - thanks for including the link - it's really a great article. Folks everyone should read this - it's clear, balanced - and it mentions all the reasons for the alewives' decline. The data on the pair trawlers bicatch of river herring is key. It's nice to see the numbers coming up... I hope the trend continues in 2009.
