I have an opportunity to pick up an Abel 3-piece 9wt rod at a decent price. Does anyone have any feedback concerning the quality, durability, and performance of these rods? I know the reels are nice (but pricey) but I can't find any literature on the rods. Thanks in advance.

I've used the Able 9wt quite a few times. I wanted to hate the rod because of its ridicules price tag... But instead found the rod to be one nicest casting rods I've ever used. Great action - fast, but not as "crisp" as the loomis rods, but stiffer then the Sage's over-all.
I think the price is really the thing that keeps people away - although the hardware on the rod is nothing special - including the fancy machined reel seat.

Thanks for the info Adam. Price isn't a problem ($380, used once by a novice with more money than brains who decided he didn't like FF after all), but I don't have anywhere to try it out right now. Thanks again.

Rocky, I'll tell you what........my casting inadequacies may make this rod about as useful as, oh, say a broom stick. If that is the case, and I can convince my Dad and my Lil' Bro that they don't need another rod, you are first in line.
By the way, I just checked out the "Lefty" pics from Old Salt. Sorry I didn't know about that class. I live ten minutes from there.
