I know most people use weed guards made of Mono and various types of wire, The attached photo was of an experiment more than anything and I believe the hooks are only available in only a few sizes. The are Gamakatsu Model #65112. The flies in the picture are on 2/0

They do work extremely well and I think they will make a great Redfish And Trout fly and should be good for Snook as well.

That's the way the early plastic worm hooks used to come. They're actually fairly easy to duplicate on any size or style of hook in the vise... I used to have a customer that specified that style of weedguard on the tarpon flies I was tying for him... The trick was to create a measuring tool (I used a toothpick with marked with a Sharpie) so that you knew just how far in front of the hookeye the end of the wire loop needs to be to get it right. I haven't had any orders for that style weedguard in a few years but still use it when tying feathered single hooks for weedless spoons such as the old Reflecto spoons.
