Is this possible or am I pipe dreaming? Thinking about switching to turbo fins if it is. Hopefully we'll get a good run this year again.

Absolutely. In fact you can stay in the area fish are working and quietly and quickly be within casting range.

Go with the turbo fins, they're way betta

Paddlers catch plenty too, but pedals allow you to get your cast off while you are racing to the fish. Kayaks don't put the breaking fish down like boats do either.

and a yak will teach you that run-n-gun boating is counter productive. I can think of a handful of spots that are very close to shore and the area you would cover is smaller than a lap pool.

The key is the pattern of the fish, they do have a preference for hitting the bait so watch and learn. I use a drift sock to slow my drifts down when in the area. Stay focused on the area you decided upon and you'll take fish. I've been using flys in the size 4 and 6 size with good success.

It's a screeeeeeam! Once you identify there pattern and where they are busting you can stake out that spot! Albie fever can make you contemplate doing things you ordinarily might not do. Be careful!

I save a weeks vacation each year just for this!

Thanks guys and 10/4 on the safety issue. That being said, if any one would like to buddy up this fall please drop me a PM.

I've fished for them with Joe LeClair out of Marion couple of years ago and loved it. Would like to find some spots I could target them more frequently from my yak. I stay at a buddies house in Cotuit so I think I'm close to some of the better areas.

Heading down to Orlando for business next week and booked a guide out of Stewart Florida where they supposedly have 10-15# albies this time of year. Hope we can find some.

Now that'll test your fly gear!!!
