First light outings the last few weeks have seen consistent action on schoolie bass anywhere from micros to fish up to 27". (Less the token nice keeper I lost when I ignored a double wind knot in my tippet since, "only micros were around". ) Most fish averaging 21" and are readily taking chart/white clousers in shallow water off slopes and structure. Some bunker around but when seen have been happily flapping about looking mostly unharmed. A deep dredged bunker pattern was ignored confirming not much bothering these welcomed residents. Hopefully a matter of time before some big blues or bass find them. Plenty of micros, more then I can remember, perhaps a good sign of life on the North Shore.

Thanks for the report. I'm on the other side of the Sound, fishing mostly between Greenwich and Larchmont, and have had a similar experience. Bunker were everywhere in May (Hempstead, Manhasset and mid-Sound), but now much scarcer on surface and not obviously harassed. Wonder what's going on with them?
