A friend invited me down to his fishing haunts in RI this coming Thursday. I fish the Cape and the North Shore typically. Never been to the RI coast.

Can anyone tell me how it's been fishing this season and what you've been landing?

Thanks

Where in RI?

I'm not entirely sure, haven't gone over the particulars yet. But if there are more productive spots than others, he might know where to head first . I was just wondering if the action has been particularly good or not so much in recent weeks. And also whether it's been better close in or farther out.

Like I said, I know where to fish in Vin Sound and around Chatham, just not over RI way. But, of course any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and kept tin the strictest confidence! Be sure to post gps coordinates please.

Will be down there end of week also and happy to compare notes if you want. PM me for my cell if you'd like.

I think fishing is a bit off this year due to the weather and draggers. However, the fish are there and normal spots are producing. Stripers and blues have been the main targets. I think the fluke season is starting soon but don't know the actual dates of the open season.

Key baits are pogies in N. Bay area and squid along the south shore and Watch Hill area. Worm hatches are much slower than a few weeks ago and are winding down/ending. Sand eels are around.
