Hi all,
First post here but hope its the start of many more. Really enjoying reading the wealth of information. I will be in Argentina for about 7 months and hope to do a side trip to somewhere in the Caribean for some bones but especially permit. My wife and 1 year old daughter will also be with me - she is quite keen on Maya ruins etc.
My question is where is a good place to go where I can DIY the trip. Are there any permit hangouts where this is possible? I have been looking into Cuba but looks like the beaches are getting locked up. I have also looked into Abaco and this looks ok but hiring a boat is friggin expensive on our currency. I also thought maybe Ascension Bay. I have a heap of questions about all of these places but maybe I could get some initial input at this stage to get me started as I really don't know this region of the world. I have had two trips to Christmas Island so I do have experience with catching bonefish on my own.
As a side note, to do this trip I will coming back from the US (Denver) on my way back to Buenos Aires and this will be in early June 2010 - so that might also determine which place will be easiest to fly to if coming from the US. If you had a choice where would you go?

PS: I can offer in return info on fishing around Australia and NZ which I have done a great deal of.
