Seems to me I read some thread on here a long time ago about the posts on non-flyfishing related stuff and the basic answer was that was pretty well ok in the tuna forum since there were so few guys chasing them with flies.

It seems like that more and more posts on ALL the areas are becoming less and less flyfishing related. I am just curious is to why that is. It is become so I don't visit here as much anymore since I am just not that interested in reading about a guy throwing sluggos. This is not meant to slam anybody or this forum but I really am interested in "The Internet Journal of Saltwater Fly Fishing" and it just doesn't seem to be that anymore.

Many people here use more then one method of fishing not just a fly rod.
Also if I see someone has been having success with a white or pink sluggo then I can use the appropriate fly. Thus many non flyfishing reports have a value to the flyfisherman giving information about location of fish, size of fish and the bait the fish are on.

Because the FF craze is LONG over. Where I fish the place is crawling with chunkers, clammers, etc....No one fly fishes, except for a hand full of us...Even the charter guys that I know who started with flyfishing have all become bunker dunkers because it's real easy to get a bass to eat a live vbait as it takes zero skill. Now try and get one to eat a hunk of feathers and yak hair is entirely a different story as you know. It's all about easy and showing off BIG dead bass on the dock as this creates interest and more clients which equals more dollars...Don't get me started as I will have to bring back my "killing Fields " post which I created a while back...

Might have to create a new site just for FF and nothing else.....

I myself came to this site for fly fishing content and quickly got frustrated with post of guys fishing bait and driving gaffs into stripers heads. I still visit the site often just to get an idea of what's going on.

Bob I understand your point and agree with it but only so far. Looking at the threads on the NE saltwater forum, tackle forum, and tuna forum I got to say well over half of them are not flyfishing.

I guess I will make it plain and simple. When over half the posts are NOT fly fishing related then this AINT the "Internet Journal of Fly Fishing."

Clear enough?:)

Many of us who fish a considerable amount in saltwater have more than just fly rods along and therefore share ideas on whatever internet boards we happen to frequent. I recall a trip I took to Seychelles a few years back, I spent five weeks there with nothing but fly rods.......a STUPID mistake that I'll never repeat. To limit ones self to only one type of tackle, or conversation, is rather shortsighted.

I've yet to encounter any whining about fly fishing posts on swordfishcentral, bloodydecks, allcoast, or any number of conventional offshore fishing sites.

But we don't do it exclusively anymore. Just as almost any of the fly shops near the salt have become more "full service shops." The site has gone where the users are going.

Look at the homepage... http://www.reel-time.com - the content is still generally fly fishing, although that is broadening somewhat.
