OK so here goes. I hope you're not sick of this line of questions but I'm looking to purchase a couple of kayaks, one for the wife and one for myself. Have pretty much settled on a Pungo for the wife but my head is spinning with something for myself. Mine would be dual purpose - touring around lakes, rivers, tidal creeks/rivers/basin with the wife and striper fishing the rest of the time. Just looking for an entry level kayak - really no preference. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED --127-3-

Finally purchased a Kayak this weekend in NH - got a great deal on a Wilderness System 120, saved $175.00 off list price and they tossed in a PFD and 2 Pc Paddle. Alsmost purchased a new Perception Carolina 12.0 Airalite for under $570 but it didn't include the PFD/Paddle. Lots of other great deals there including new fishing sit on Tarpon 140 for under $650.--126-3---127-3---127-3---127-3-

I have a word of advice on the Pungo. Mine, which has a large cockpit opening (140 model) does not have any flotation in the bow. I found that when I capsized it about a mile out of Brewster into the bay it was impossible to to get the water out of the unit and then re-enter the boat without taking on enough water that the cockpit opening was below the water line. With that situation going on, the boat is impossible to paddle. I added a floatation bag in the bow and now the problem is solved. BTW, I ended up swimming to shore.. not a lot of fun.

You got a great deal. I'm no expert, but I'm impressed. way to go. I love kayak fishing more than anything! Hope you and your wife love it.
