The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission will hold a hearing on Striped Bass in Gloucester on Sept. 30th. The hearing will be on an addendum which proposes to allow unused coastal commercial quota of striped bass to be rolled over from one year to the next. Options include state eligibility and the amount of unused quota that may be carried over. More information from MassDMF at http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/dmf/

Anyone plan on going???

Amazing ! As of 5.55PM today 54 folks looked at this post but no one is planning to attend the meeting next Wed. ?

If ASMFC increases the commercial quota I'll bet you will wake up. Could happen.

Ho..Hum....Only two recreational fishermen took the time to attend the public meeting in Gloucester on this issue.

By their absense, the restd of you Mass anglers gave tacit approval for the commercials to roll over their unused quotas from year to year to year, ad infinitum.

You know Bill, we don't agree on alot, but we both support a reasonable and accountable commercial fishery in striped bass AND we both agree that a commercial quota rollover is a bad idea. Where are the internet heros of the recreational bass fishery when the rubber hits the road? Nowhere. Put up or shut up. If this bad idea is passed, you anti-commercial zealots and those who aren't neccesarily so nuts have NOBODY to blame but yerselves. No excuses...

Don't know where they are, CMP. They certainly were not at the Public Hearing in Gloucester a week ago. Only two rec. fishermen managed to get there.
