Last week I fished the flats in Cape Cod Bay with Capt. Steve Moore who was recommended to me by another guide on the North Shore. We met at 4:30 and were on the water in Capt. Moore's flats boat by 5. We found lots of bass on the surface just as the sun came up. The fish were everywhere and coming from the Northshore, I can honestly say I haven't seen big fish on the surface like that for many years.Usually we only see that in the fall, and the last few season, not at all. Anyway, the surface activity lasted for about two hours and by 7 a.m. I had already had a good day with maybe 50 fish up to 30", all on flies. After the tide went slack low, we headed to the flats and poled the boat into about 6 inches of water. there were fish everywhere we looked. I landed several bass up to 36 inches in under two feet of water! What a day! Now, if we could only get some good flats like that up north. Anyway, Capt. Moore knows his stuff and I would recommend him to anyone interested in florida-style flats fishing.
