Can anyone suggest a solution or a name brand... looking for a quality set up... its for a Jeep Cherokee that already has the factory roof top rails. Much appreciate any feedback

Take a look at this site: http://www.rodmounts.com. I bought some of these and I think they work well. They mount easily on the cross pieces of roof racks and you can adjust the height with spacers if necessary. They are not the least expensive around I'm sure, but they are well made and should hold up.

Have Jeep Gr. Cherokee. Made my own for one piece 11 & 12 ft surf rods out of 2" diam black plastic piping (frontis 2" and rear is 3" mounted on brass hinged aluminum stock that fasten to roof rack cross member and tighten in place with ss nut & bolt. Front piece cut lengthwise to accept top section of rod---held in place with smaller piece of piping reformed to act as slip ring inside pipe, and rear piece notched to accept stem of reel and secure with a velcro strap. Mount small piece of foam insullation to inside of each pipe to cushion rod. Make in about two hours and never rusts. Good luck!!
