Is it just me,and the fact that I hate all forced advertising.OR is this site the most annoying on the web? I can hardly even get on anymore, waiting for this crap to do it's thing. I don't have this problem on any of the MANY other sites I visit. Is this really all that necessary? It really makes what was once a very enjoyable place, take a back seat to my list of places to visit. I'd bet I'm not alone.

Probably just your hardware, software, or the settings you have. No such issues here using Firefox via Verizon FIOS. Several months ago, I did have a problem in that I couldn't always see posted images (for example, GO FISH's pic's of the transom re-do), but I got that resolved.

North coast, have you done a thorough check of adware, malware and spyware in your PC or laptop?
Also do you have multiple users on your computer?
Is your security software AND antivirus up to date, is it frquently updated (Once a week) is preferred?
This site runs fine in my opinion, not pops ups or annoyances. Time warner cable with internet explorer 7

Run firefox and load the "Adblock Plus" add-on and you won't see any ads on this or other sites.

These previous posters are mostly likely correct - junk stuck in your computer is causing the problem not this site. Spyware is slowly things down because it's tracking your every move and/or getting tied up with clean legit ads you see on sites like reel-time.
You can get a free spyware/malware remover called Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.42 by searching the internet - use a reliable download source like cnet.com. This program is safe to run and will pull out a ton a of stuff. Now, if you have a virus, that's a bigger badder story...your anti-virus software might be able to pull it out. But run the malwarebytes thing first - I use it regularly. Spyware Blaster is another slick freeware that runs in the background, takes up almost zero memory, and blocks a ton of junk (malware, spyware, adware) you'd never know was being added to you PC.
I agree with the Firefox suggestion, it keeps out a lot more garbage than IE does even before adding Adblock Plus.
