Heading to Nantucket for the Holiday weekend. Any sugestions for places to fish would be great.
I may also consider a charter if any are availible. If you know any please let me know.
Thanks for the help.

I just got back from spending the weekend sightfishing stripers on the flats off Madaket- behind Tuckernuck- and catching blues teased to my fly. What a trip! I went out with my nephew who is a charter captain on Nantucket in very high regard (so the people at Cross Rip Outfitters told me when I was in to buy a hat). His name is Capt. Shawn W. Bristow (his phone number is 508/325-5568, leave a message as he sometimes books a couple of charters a day, depending on the tides). Tell him his uncle sent you. He is associated with Turtle Hunter Charters. They will take you out to fish the rips in a big boat, pole the flats in a flats boat or do beach trips. You will not regret calling him (that's an avid fisherman talking, not just a proud uncle)!

Thanks for the info. I'll give him a call. Any sign of fish off Surfside?

My brother-in-law and I surf-casted off Surfside Saturday and Sunday without any luck. Admittedly, we had the kids with us so our hearts and attention were not really in it (particularly after the great day we had Friday). On Friday, the blues we caught were off Eel Point. My nephew and I were side-by-side on the casting platform and he would cast a hookless plug with a spinning reel as far as he could and tease the blues to my fly (which I would strip-retrieve when the plug came along side and my nephew yanked the plug clear). You should have see the blues lock radar on my fly when the plug was yanked out of the water! What an experience!

I'll be haeding up for the holiday weekend also. I usually like to hit Smith's Point in the evening ( Sunset to about 12:00am) Unfortunately it means a long walk when beach access is denied to 4wd. However you'll find few anglers willing to make the trek. Eel Point is also a favorite of mine early in the am. South Shore beaches are usually productive after dark. I'll use both sand eel (small to large)and squid fly patterns. Where you fish will be most depedant on the wind which is predominantly out of the SW.
Good Luck!
