Maybe I missed the information on this but my boat trailer registration fee, here in Massachusetts, went from $77.00 in 2009 to $120.00 for 2010. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else.

I usually wait until I'm ready to put the boat in the water (spring) before I renew my registration on line, but I wouldn't be surprised. I believe it was $27 for a trailer <1500lbs 2 years ago.

YUP Mine went up to 120 as well. I only need to pull the trailer 2 times a year. Just like everything else regarding taxes they only go one way.--126-3---126-3-

Yes, it went up with the '09 registrations in November. It is now $20 per 1000 pounds of gross weight. So if your trailer weighs 1000 pounds and can carry 5000 pounds your bill is now $120 per year.

How much is the ticket if you get caught driving an unregistered trailer.. hypothetically speaking, of course?

Just another thought on boat trailer fees: If you're pulling the trailer with a vehicle with MA commercial plates you may be required to have an annual trailer inspection ($$$)...

I had to deal with this for work... I was told that Baot Trailers under a certain rating do not require inspection. I want to say it was under 3K or 6K lbs. Don't remember, I could be wrong.

Under 3k don't have to have the annual inspection. Knowing this state, they'll probably keep lowering it until they get all of us...

same here
was 77
now 120

I put the boat in the water in April,
Pull it in October

and I am Mass Roads a grand total of 12 miles / year

same thing they've done everywhere else

No Politician wants to be the guy to raise taxes
they just increase fees

in this case about 55.6%

it is both sides
as a few years ago our esteemed Gov Romney's almost first action was to increase fees at our registry of deeds

any of you that have bought or refinanced in the last decade may have noticed those fees went from $76 to $308
