"Marine spatial planning" and more Heinz awards for the NOAA Director:

Yessir.
How do you guys think this might play out within the Stellwagen National Marine Sanctuary?
Do any of you recreational and charter fishermen believe that NOAA will allow a directed bluefin fishery, for any purpose, if the species is listed as Endangered under the CITES Convention?
Plainly NOAA is pursuing its decades old dream of eliminating the commercial fishery for bluefin tuna. Only this time, it will take down the recreational and charter fishery with it by employing CITES, rather than simply drastic ICCAT quota cuts as per 1982. Ironically, that tactic (i.e. the 1982 quota cuts engineered by a baloney "stock assessment") was facilitated by "splitting" the ABT stock into "western" and "eastern", which planted the seeds of the Mediterranean debacle now being played out. The result of that intellectual dishonesty has now again come home to roost.
The NOAA Director has got to go, as she is plainly abetting or constructing these moves. It's appalling.
Just my own two cents.
