ok striped bass bite this morning

i fished this morning off of ct.river in a cove..fished from 3am until 8:30am in my kayak..i only brought my spin rod,and was using 7 inch zoom super flukes..heard a good couple of pops out in the channel,i made a cast and hooked up with a nice size fish..got some smaller size fish after that..when the light came up i switched over to a shallow running repala in medium size and hooked up with 2 more fish and that was it.tide was too low in the area i was in..i had carp all around me in one area jumping out of the water,i should of brought my bonefish flies.sometimes up north of the ct.river in one area i fish,i can get them to eat small flies...fishing all day tommorow and tuesday..boat goes in the water on tuesday and i cant wait..gotta go to my blackfish and winter flounder spots...

Nice! I have been fishing around ALLOT all hours and dropping tides. Lots of bait around. Been fishing the coves as well as out front. Seals have been present. Catching higher numbers late afternoons last week. Fewer fish last few days. Fished the drop today. Got there late in tide and tide was a low one to start with. Fished hard with one hookup in an unexpected spot. It was of good size though, never saw it. It peeled some line and had to make some drag adjustments right off the bat. Was not expecting. Fish dropped off. I think it hit my teaser. Bad quantity but good quality today. That fish I lost today has me at the vice right now tying up some more of those teasers.
There are a few night spots that I have been checking often for the last 4 weeks.
I have watched the bait population increase big-time in the last week. Some bigger fish are around for sure gorging. Usually one or two in each spot. Hooking them is another story as we all know. Landing them (real tight spots) is yet another issue once hooked up. I have had two major disappointments with dropoffs yesterday and today.
