Does anyone have a restaurant recommendation for the Nags Head area? No fried food and take out preferred.

Many thanks :)

Sam,

Two recommendations for you. The first is the Blue Moon Beach Grill. Excellent food with a full take out menu. Not a whole lot in the way of ambience. Just good-sized portions of excellent food. I'm partial to their shrimp/grits and their shrimp/blue crab/white wine dish served over angel hair pasta

The second is the Tale of the Whale. Sits right on the water. More touristy, but still good food with great views of the water.

Hope this helps and is not too late.

Mark

Thanks Mark :) Not heading down until the end of the month. The Shrimp and Blue Crab dish sounds right up my alley.

Follow up report...

Tried the Blue Moon Beach Grill but they do not offer take out. A shame, because the place was obviously good as it was packed. Ended up a Mulligans a block to the north. It was decent.

On another note, if you make it down to Ocracoke, I strongly recommend the the Ocracoke Seafood Company. Great little fish market with some interesting selections. Get the Tilefish if they have it :)

Sam, strange about the Blue Moon not offering take out because we've gotten it in the past. Plus, their webpage even advertises that it offers it....

I believe the quote was "we are unable to offer takeout at this time" or something like that. Who knows. I would recommend that anyone in the area give it a try. They were hopping.

R.V.s and Lone Cedar (use to be Basnight's before it burned.) Both are on the road from Nags Head to Manteo before the bridge. My wife and I haven;t made it down this year but they are our favorites.
