I went carp fishing at my old reliable spot and had steady action for the 2-3 hours I fished. Some on the fly, some on bread. Chum was bread and all fish were caught while sight fishing on top. No monsters. Range was from 1/2 pound to about 10 pounds. I've been checking out some new areas with limited success so it was nice to have a successful morning.
While fishing two large snapping turtles surfaced and were clearly mating. Turtles where the size of a small garbage can top. They did a lot of splashing and rolling then split up. They definitely looked spent after they were done. There appeared to be a few others doing the same thing along the opposite shore as there was a lot of splashing all morning. Could have been Carp mating though. Poison ivy and laziness prevented me from checking it out.
