My parents were down for a few days of fishing and we did fish pretty hard. We started out Monday night at Great Point, where Mom landed a 22" striper right up in the surf (her first fly fishing from shore) and Dad managed to hook a small fluke and all of us lost flies to Bluefish. Tuesday we went back so Mom could get a fluke of her own. This morning we went into the harbor with Captain Tom Mleszko where conditions were absolutely perfect for fly fishing, low winds and calm water (for once:) but not enough sun to see the fish. Mom managed to land 3 stripers 22- 26" and lost one. I landed 2 Stripers 24" & 28" and lost one myself, while Dad acted as trip photographer. It looks like the harbor is the place to be if the winds stay down and the fish behave.

Tight Lines and Good Luck,

Shane,

I'l be up this weekend. What patterns were you using at GP and the Harbor. I have learned to question the reports from Bill Fishers as they almost always say use a olive clouser or hard bodies. I'm never interested in Bills attitude. Were you using a sink tip or intermediate Line? Reports have it that poppers are working? Any truth to this? Also, while at Great Point were you at the point or were you fishing the stretch on the back side facing toward town. I have pulled in Stripers, Blues and False Albies on the back side when nothing was going on at the point. I'll be there this weekend but will most likely ply the west end as larger bass working their way up the coast will hit that end first.

Tight Lines!
