Bonito?

I read on another forum that a bonito was on the dock in Menemsha, and it was cought off Dogfish Bar. Did anyone else hear a rumor like this? I know sometimes they catch a rogue in late June, early July, but this was last friday. Just hearing rumors about those things gets me pumped. -mike

I have spoken to several guides and shops on the island this morning and none have heard anything about any bonito. However, there were a few hooligans (the Rat Pack as they are affectionately called on-island) in one of the shops earlier in the week who said they were planning to start some rumors just for the fun of it. Given the current water temps, I'd be very surprised to hear about any bonito showing up within the next wo weeks or so. That said, anything's possible I guess.

You have to give those guys credit. They probably threw that bone in the Larsens freezer last summer just to thaw it out for the July 4th weekend. Hats off to the rat pack for that one!

They will probably be unveiling a White Marlin on the jetties for Labor Day...

Yeah, my brother is one of those guys, sounds exactly like something they'd do. The report I got was from a Cape guy who ducked into Menemsha for gas and saw the guy with it on the dock. Either way, I don't plan on looking for them for a while. Its too early in the summer to lose my sanity.
