What brand of roof rack do you use? I have a Toyota RAV-4 which has no rain gutters. I am concerned that the clip system used on most roof racks will cause an eventual leak. Has anyone had such a problem with their non factory roof racks? I also saw a RAV-4 with saddles attached to the factory rack if anyone has that system what brand of saddles did you use? Thanks for your help.

I've had my Thule racks on and off (mostly on) my Rav-4 for a little over 2 years now, with no visible leakage. Went with them over the factory racks due to carrying capacity needs: kayak + bicycles, etc. The door gaskets seem to have deformed just a little when I pull the brackets, but I haven't seen any water get through- even using one of those self-serv pressure-wash type carwashes.

I have used Thule and Yakima racks for years. Ski racks stay on all winter. I have never had a door leak. You can get adapters that allow these rack systems to be used with the factory roof systems

When I had my Mazda 626, I had the gutterless Thule mounts. Never had a single leak. Then bought a truck with factory racks. Thule again for the clamp-ons. Not a bad system. Only problem is selling the old rack & bar. Everyone has one already ;-);
