Hit Brenton reef at first light to be greeted by lots of stripers - caught 20 to 25 - all very nice fish ranging from 25" to 32". They were very healthy and quite fat.
Bite lasted until about 10:00 a.m. although the earlier the better.

Would like to see more people post Rhody reports.

Tight lines.

Were you fishing from shore or from a boat?

Lures, flies or bait.

Nice report.

I think the people from RI have lock jaw. They don't seem to post very often. I see this on other boards as well.

I'd be happy to post RI reports , but usually fish the Cape exclusively in May, June, July, and first part of August. But you'll see a lot more RI rpts from me in September through season end when the fall run starts cranking.

P.S. This board has the most RI reporting activity I've seen of any of the boards, although that's not saying much.

I can tell you what observations I have made so far this season in RI. I have noticed more bait than I did last year in the area from Brenton Reef across to the Sakonnet Lighthouse and a few miles to the east. There have been plenty of smaller bass both up on the beach and in deep water in the typical hot spots for some time now. This past weekend a bunch of 30+ lb fish were caught - the most I've seen this year. Big bass fishing is rapidly improving. Mind you, the ones I saw were not caught on flys. The past few weeks bluefish 5-7 lbs have been plentiful.

Fluke fishing has been terrific. Saturday I caught the biggest Fluke (10#)of my life using a 3 oz white barbless jig/mackerel strip. I filet the mackerel and end with 6 pieces of bait per mack. The bigger the better. Also have caught some large sea bass w/the same rig at Schuylers and the north side of 3rd beach. The water has been consistently very clear with afternoon surface temp on Tuesday @~72 degrees. I'll be focusing on large stripers this weekend and will be looking for them early morning in shallow water. I never fish upper bay so can't comment.
