Just hoping to help guys living beyond these spots, as I do.....
Drove an hour and a half to find no albies at Shinny this morning. Water was clean but no fish. Loads of bait though.
Drove to the North Fork, almost an hour, found the same. One or two Spanish macks hooked, but not landed, on the N. Fork shores last week but everyone's sitting in their trucks just waiting for the fish to arrive.
Fished a couple of favorite beaches along the shore, lots of birds diving but not a tap.
Maybe next week?

Did not fish but walked some of the local beaches from Goldsmith's Inlet to Orient Point today. Very quiet while I was there. No birds, fishermen or any obvious fish.

Good to hear Shinnecock has cleared up - it was still murky yesterday morning and aside from some bass that I saw come up on the rocks, I saw no hard tails.
Weather permitting, I should be there on Thursday morning. --127-3-

I was going to try Shinnecock on Sat. provided the forecast (lighter winds, smaller seas) holds. Anyone been since flysully posted his report on Tues.?
PhilDKreal - do you mind sharing the general location that inspired your --126-3- ? My gas budget for the season is about done and I'd like to make what's left count.

There have been good blitzes at Montauk from what I understand, I have not fished it yet myself.
But my sources tell me it still blowing out there today.
I may give it a shot this weekend.
Looking like an early fall...?

Was at Shinnecock for Plan A(lbies) bright and early. Trouble was, they weren't ready for me. Went to Plan B(ucktailing) for bass since the guys next to me were bailing them. Mullet were in last night and it was a fish every other cast. Nice to put a bend in the surf stick - just about every other fish was a keeper.
Did here (reliably) that the albies were in prior to Earl, but haven't been seen since...

Yep. Nice to have met you, bro. Hopefully the next time we're on the rocks, they'll be bends in our flyrods!

Montauk fished well today.
Not an all-out fish-fest, but steady action on albies pretty much all day, and good bass blitzes late afternoon.
Spectacular weather, it was blowing early, but it laid down nice this afternoon and got downright warm in the sun.
Albies kept you guessing all day, but they would eat if you got the fly to them. Good size too. A couple went 9# on the boga.
Yes, fall has started.

You too Walter. Seems like that is a high possibility for next time.

Same for Shinnecock yesterday morning thru early afternoon. No birds or surface activity whatsoever. Was hoping to avoid the insanity that is Montauk on Sept. weekends but if they don'y show soon may have to head east.

Lots of bait and massive blues blitzes east of The Ruins at Gardiners in the afternoon. Blues were eating large butterfish among other baits. Scouted for Albies but none seen. Wind and waves picked up big time and I headed home.
Who knows what will happen after tonight's blow.
