It didn't look too promising in the bays at first light until my friend Chris called me over to working birds in Casle Island area. They were up and down and occaisonally breaking under terns and gulls for about 1 1/2 hours. Medium sized schoolies chasing small baitfish (don't know what type). After this cooled off we were picking them up on olive/white clousers in the outflow at Pleasure Bay when some good sized bird activity started at the northwest end of Thompson's Island. More terns, gulls and for a while, breaking schoolies. Makes you think the bait we need is creeping into the Harbor!! The surface action was over by about 8 am but you could pick them up with fast sinking and clousers. First time on the flyrod in two seasons, boy do I stink! Chris did well which let me know we were using the right approach.
