SEEING AS WE ARE GETTING DESPERATE TO CATCH SOMETHING THAT FIGHTS BETTER THAN A SKATE, WE WOULD LIKE TO TRY FOR BLUE SHARKS. MY PARTNER HAS A 23 FOOTER. ANY INFO ON WHERE AND WHEN WE CAN GET INTO THEM WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. CAN THEY BE FOUND ON STELLWAGEN OR DO WE TRAVEL FURTHER EAST ????? THANKS IN ADVANCE BOBBY G

Most of the shark fishing I hear of is from people heading out towards the gulf stream.

HI Bobby.
To date we have not taken any blue sharks in Mass. Bay. The prime months are August and Sept. Blue sharks will start to show up this month.
I will be out tomorrow on my sons 24 foot Rampage we will be out east of Stellwagen. Although in season there are sharks on Stellwagen there will be 10 times as many in the deeper water off the bank.
I started adding a shark fishing section onto the end of my shark website . If interested you can access the website at www.newenglandsharks.com The website is specifically about the sharks we have in our local waters. If you read as in r-e-a-d instead of just looking at the pictures you will have a good grasp of our local sharks. - Tom

Hi Tom. While bluefishing this past weekend between the sw corner and the BE we noticed some kind of sharks(about 15' down) following the blues being brought in.They were about 6 to 7 feet long with narrow snouts, large fins and blue grey in color any idea what they might of been?

Hi Bronco.
Probably the first of the arriving blue sharks. Very long pectoral fins?? This is the time they should be appearing in the Mass. Bay area.
We have not had any porbeagles or blue sharks attack the cod being brought up from the bottom in deep water right through yesterday. This weekend should produce a few blue shark hookups. July 6 last year is when they showed up east of Stellwagen. - Tom

Capt. Tom , thanks for responding so quickly. Checked out your website, very informative. Would it be asking too much, just how far east of Stellwagen that you fish and roughly how deep ??? Thanks in advance and good luck Bobby

Hi Bobby. Just get into 275 feet of water on the backside anywhere east of the Bank and you will be OK. - tom
