Fished the outer cape beaches on 7/3 and 7/4 (Head of the Meadow and Newcomb Hollow)- Could not fish at night due to family responsibilities. The water looked good (no mung) but absolutely no fish. A bit of bait was starting to show (juv. pogies) but the fish seemed to be offshore... Anybody do any better? How was the night fishing?? I've notice the south wind seems to kill the fishing on the outer beaches this time of year...

I've hit the Race the past couple of weeks. Fished right off the point. At night, they were HAMMERING swimming Bombers. Tried the fly. Nothing doing. In the morning, you could see schools of Shad (Hickory, I believe) running up the beach towards Herring Cove. All fish were borderline keepers. Very thin too. This year will be tough for the large.

Thanks for the tip - nightime is definitely the right time for now... Hopefully the mung will hold off for a few more weeks.
