Aren't midweek holidays just great? We spent the weekend dodging families (including dogs and children in the water) and still managed to catch fish. Went out Sunday night and into Monday morning to finally catch fish at sunrise, small schoolies but then they all count. I did manage to hook one on the flats before fouling my gear in the dark.
Holiday hiding for Tuesday but went out at 3:00 this morning to get 2 fish 26- 28" right around sunrise. I spent the rest of the morning standing on the flats casting to whatever came by. I ended up either seeing of hooking over 40 Stripers in 3 hours. It all ended while I was talking to a gentleman from Maryland who found it hard to believe that I saw that many fish until he saw 10 or so fish come up into the shallows at our feet while we were chatting. It seemed to sell him on spending a little time on the flats himself with a fly rod in hand, the fish were too close to shore for surf casting. A great day off.
