Morning all,
I'm heading down to the Myrtle Beach area on business in early April. I'd love to get some fly fishing in for reds, trout, etc. etc.
First question: I've never inshore fished for these species--Is this a good time of the year to target them? If so, can anyone suggest a few good fly fishing guide to get a hold of?
Thanks in advance!

Capt Seth Vernon is just north of Myrtle beach in NC. He fishes very close to the border so he might be a good choice. Outstanding guide. I fished with him in April last year and it was tough but there are fish around.

Hey yall
First post on this forum, but im a local to Myrtle Beach and I'll tell ya that Murrells Inlet is about 15 minutes south with tons of great charter captains. I'd look there before NC because its alot closer. In my opinion Captain "E" (Englis) and Captain Newman Weaver are two of the beat in the area. Just stay away from that EXTREME FISHING quack. Hope this helps a little. Let us know how the trip ends up.

I haven't fished down there in summer yet but according to Capt Seth July and August are typically the best for sight fishing to tailing reds in the reeds.
Just an FYI and to set expectations, this is nothing like Louisiana marsh sight fishing. The fish are typically in the 5-7 pound range and a handful a day is considered good. These fish are pressured and spooky.
I had a very hard time finding a flyfishing guide in that area and Capt Seth is not only one of the only guides, he is an excellent guide as well. I can't say enough about him, he is very good at coaching and making you a better angler. What's more is his dedication to conservation when it comes to reds in that part of the country. He is the guy behind Redfish Can't Jump, a movie about the challenges redfish face with gill nets in NC. The film had some great sight fishing action as well. If he won't travel to SC I'm sure he will know of a guide in that area.

Thanks for the info. Found his website and will give him a ring. We're actually staying in Holden Beach, so fairly close to him, it seems.
Excited to give it a shot, will report back.
