I have been to Belize twice. Both times Staying in Hopkins and fishing with Noel and Lloyd(great guides both). This year we will be heading to Punta Gorda and are looking for independant guides. I say independant because we already have a place to stay. We need a guide who isn't locked up by a lodge. I have heard that the Garbutt brothers are now running a lodge so they're probably out. Any info would be appreciated.

I think the Garbut bros are the go to guides for PG. I do not know if there are others there. I have seen them fishing and have heard nothing but good things. However, some of the Placencia guides fish down there a lot. I know Bruce Leslie does since I have been down there with him many times and also Ian Cuevas who is from Monkey River but now living in Placencia. If you email me at fisheye1atsignacsalaska.net I will email you their contact information.

You shouldn't have a prob with hiring the Garbuts. Scully is the main guy right now and if busy he'll set you up w/ one of his kin. He is excellent by the way.
