My intention is to provided some information to help an angler travel to Belize more affordable. Someone who might not be able to afforded airfare to Belize City, but wants to fish Belize, would find this information helpful.
I have struggled all my life to be able to financially afford travel to my preferred fishing destinations. So, I wanted to share an inexpensive way to travel to Belize.
Belize air fare can easily cost $800 USD or more...and that is out of my budget and in the past has kept me from traveling there. So, during my research I have discovered a way to save money on the air fare.
Flights to Cancun (CUN) are affordable. I can purchase airfare to Cancun for as little as $150 USD. Frontier Airlines fly's direct none stop from Denver (DEN). You can then travel from Cancun by bus to Chetumal which is at the border of Mexio and Belize (3hrs). From there you have two options to Belize city...either a Belize bus (3hrs) which runs several times daily from Chetumal to Belize City, or a water taxi which also runs daily...headed to Belize City, but less often. The water taxi cost more ($25USD) but is much quicker.
