I'm travelling to RI from Indiana tomorrow to fish my old stomping grounds for 8-9 days. Any info provided will be greatly appreciated.

Fished the area yesterday (7/5).

The flats inside Quonny inlet were loaded with stripers after crabs. Didn't have any crab flies so didn't catch any fish by sight casting. Got two fish blind casting along the boat channel with olive clausers.

Fished the harbor and Naptree on the outgoing tide. The harbor gave up a fish to the same fly.Fish were 20"-25".

Chartered CDevill11 out of Snug Harbor R.I. A charter of five fished off
Block Island in late June at night. After missing three fish I checked my
hook and I couldn`t draw blood with it. All five of us had dull hooks. We
didn`t get new hooks, the captain and mate spent over five minutes looking
for a file. Fished the same spot for six hours without seeing a lot of fish
on the screen. Used a total of seven eels all night and couldn`t get the
mate to rebait us. Mate spent over ten minutes trying to untangle the last
three feet of my sons line but I insisted he cut it and rerig, keeping the
same old hook of course. We all agreed, the mate was useless and the captain
didn't impress us as being knowledgeable of the area or of fishing stripers
and he never tried other locations. Caught one schoolie. We were probably
the only boat out in the sound that didn't catch our limit. I've asked him
for half our money back but he says "No Way, the reason we didn't catch fish
is because WE were inexperienced", I guess fishing charters for 30 years in
Mexico for sailfish, Florida for Tarpon, Dolphin, Cobia and Sailfish, and
New England for Bluefish, Stripers and Fluke and fishing freshwater ever
since I was old enough to hold a pole still doesn't make me experienced in
catching fish!!! Wouldn`t even
recommend him to my enemys. He gives charter captains a bad name. I should
have known better, the only thing his ad bragged about was how fast his boat
was for more fishing time, I don`t think so, it`s to rip you off faster.
State of R.I. should make it manditory fish charter captains know something
about fishing before issuing a license.
