Sorry for late reports.

Fished Brewster Flats last Friday afternoon. Hammered fish on outgoing and again on incoming. ON outgoing caught tons of little rats. The Tide started flooding around 5pm, we took over 50 fish up to 26 inches over the first two hours of the incoming. Lucky to take canoe out there. I was fishing the front of the channel with friend. I stayed out, he walked back to the outermost bar with his rod in his mouth. The water just flooded behind us in a matter of a heartbeat. (You really gotta be carful out there without a boat.) Friend luckily made it to canoe and picked me up. I can't even begin to describe how many fish were out there. There were bigger fish but I couldn't get my fly past little guys.

At slack low we were walking on the bars digging sand eels out of the bars. There were tons. What's funny though is last Sunday I was down there, same time, looking for sand eels in sand and couldn't find nearly as many. ALong with the lack of sand eels was a lack of fish. I didn't see much, it was a double star low though. Probably messed up the fish.

Anybody fish the flats this week?

Fished back of buttermilk last Saturday from shore and caught a bunch of schoolies up to 18 inches. The fish are so small there though. Anybody ever catch keeper size bass in buttermilk? I've never got anything over 25 inches in there. I usually just go cause its close to home.

FYI-I wasn't digging sand eels to use them. I was just looking for bait sizes. I used one fly all day. A olive and white clouser, size#2 with gold dumbell eyes.

Agree, just about any CC bay flat has been good all season. I was at Barnstable Hbr Saturday and caught plenty. Success does vary though. Sunday wasn't nearly as good (extreme minus tide).

As for the danger aspect, take it from one who wades exclusively and rarely uses boats: err on the side of caution when that tide starts coming in. Barnstable is particularly tricky, with holes everywhere that fill with water quickly. Yeah, the fishing often picks up on the flood and it is tempting to push the time barrier, but I don't recommend it unless you have a raft or boat at your disposal.

I fished the falts Thursday around noon. Got there late in the low tide and also experienced the quick in coming tide. I had about an hour of fishing time, but managed to site cast to several fish. I landed two fish, 30 and 26 inches, both on an olive and white clouser.

Be back on Saturday

Bob,

I keep getting report out of Barnstable. How is it? From what I here there is good wading and many channels to work.

I'd like to give it a shot. I pretty much know the Brewster flats like the back of my hand, I'd like to work some new water. I have tried Monomoy, but the pressure is ridiculous and it's a pain to get out there without a boat.

If you could maybe e-mail me an access point, I'd appreciate it. I'd like to explore that area, I mean that whole five miles of flats is great up there on the Northside.

My e-mail is Michael.Kendis@Staples.com

Thankyou
Mike
