I have been ice fishing a small tidal pond with a vexilar,
To my surprise I started to jig up schoolies! in 7 to 10 ft of water lots of fun on a jig stick all 2 to 4lbs broke off two bigger ones.
The fish seem very active I mark alot of fish not alot of them want to eat but the few that do make it worth the effort.
The best times seem to be at higher stages of the tide I think they flood in from the main river...

Nice, I once tried a few tip ups in a tidal river but did not have any luck. There used to be some very good sized stripers taken through the ice in connecticut.

not sure if its true, but I did hear of a guy that took a 22 pounder out of the bass river through the ice a few years back, you never know what you might get.

I have been getting them in Ct about a 1/2 mile from my house which is nice!:)
