I will be headed up th the Springfield VT area next weekend and was hoping to do some trout fishing. Is it too ealry to hit the rivers and streams on the fly or should I be concentrating on ponds and lakes?

Any tips on where and how to find some trout or even better some salmon are greatly appreciated. I am a capable fresh water guy, but, need to be pointed in the right direction.

You may want to wait until next week, to do your planning. They have been having problems with flooding

It's not too early but we've had very high water. Lakes and ponds should be fishing well with chironomids. Timing for hendricksons on the rivers should be good but also look for caddis. Check the Orvis report for area streams and fish anything over 50 degrees and you should be fine.
