Tried the outside of South Beach (not the inside flats) from the light to about 1.5 miles south from 8 PM-12 mid. Surprisingly few people around. Maybe they spent the day watching the 4 out of 120 tall ships that actually went through the Canal ;-);

Anyway, decent numbers of schoolies in the suds past the first point, but nothing over 24 inches. All on Carolina-rigged Twitch Assassins, small swimming plugs, and small deceiver teasers. Bigger plugs were ignored. They wouldn't touch the epoxy sand eel bay side flats, possibly because I couldn't cover enough water with it. First time out on this part of South Beach this year, and the structure has changed greatly, including a channel that parallels the beach for some distance, deep in spots. A lowish tide scouting trip is recommended.

At Sunday dawn, I headed to the Canal and quickly changed direction when I noticed the traffic barriers, chaise lounges, $ 10-25 private parking, and clicking camera shutters that are all part of the SailBoston 2000 experience ;-);

Beat a retreat to Sandwich creek. Other than a few out-of-reach breaking fish off the beach and some over-anxious terns swooping at passersby to protect their nestlings, there's little to report.
