Before I give my report I need to ask you my fellow readers a question.
When Stripers are coming up on the sand bars at you feet do you ?
a) Drop everything and dive on them?
b) Break off your tip top and try spearing them with you rod?
c) Drop a fly in front of them and let them swim away after they take a look at it?
I only ask because for the last 4 or 5 days option c) is the one I've been trying and it leads to some frustating but fun days. The fish are moving up onto the flats all the time except for dead low tide and they like to chase flies but they don't seem to want to take them. When you get frustrated with sight casting I've found that switching to a fast sinking line, letting it sit in the deep water and retieving back rather quickly will bring a strike almost every time, no matter what time of day I'm out there. A person can now go almost anywhere on the island and find fish around.
Tight Lines and Good Luck...
