When Tony Urbanowicz saw his fish roll about 100 yards out on the Saugatuck Reservoir, he knew he had something really big. By then, he had battled the fish for nearly a half an hour.
"I knew it was a big trout from the way it kept taking line," he said. "Each time I'd gain on it, it would run like a bull again. But when I saw it roll, showing that big white belly, I was stunned."
The trout was big all right -- 18.34 pounds big. And fat, too, with a girth of 27 inches around its midsection. Head to tail, it stretched to 32½ inches. To call this trout a whopper is a miscarriage of justice.
Urbanowicz did not have a fish scale with him, but one look at the trout as he pulled it onto the Saugatuck shore Thursday morning, June 30, sent his blood pressure skyrocketing. This fish could be a state record, he thought.

That is a monster. Weird how it took until the end of the writeup to identify what kind of trout the fish was...
