Flats boots
Breathable waders
Chest pack
Flies: Deceivers, clousers and seaducers
Forceps

Andrew - sounds like you are in great shape. You can fine tune your flies and lines as you go depending on where exactly you fish. A copy of Gartside's new book (Guide to Fishing Boston - not sure of exact title) will be well worth your money. Striper Strategies (same author) is also a good read to get you psychologically prepared for wading the Boston area. If you tie your own flies then add a couple of gurglers and some sand eels. I seem to be fishing more flat-wings this year but next year I'll likely have more confidence in a different pattern/style. Good luck in Boston...

Add Bug Repellant to the list and night time fishing two flashlights - one with a red lense to preserve night vision and a bright light to find your way home.

You know you're getting older when...
If there is room in your chest pack tuck in a small first-aid kit, nothing fancy, but tape, gauze, antibiotic stuff, etc. My kit is about 4" square and 1" thick. rwolson suggested Bug juice, buy plenty, buy often. The green heads are starting to show in good numbers up north. OUCH.

Sounds like fishing in cottage country, the mosquitoes are bug enough to romance turkeys....

Rather than a flashlight I would recommend a headlamp. Cabela's and REI have them for about 25 bucks. It's nice to have both hands free to tie those friggin' knots, and I always seem to drool when I hold a flashlight in my mouth.
Are you serious????? What are GREENHEADS ?????
Presuming you know what "No-see-ums" are and presuming you know what mosquitoes are.....Greenheads are 20 times bigger than mosquitoes, they hurt 100 times worse than "No-see-ums" and are more determined to eat your blood and ruin your day than your worst VAMPIRE NIGHTMARE.
I guess that about sums it up. What do the rest of you think?????

Greenheads are particularly nasty insects that flay faster rthan you can run, and drink DEET. I've found you need the strong (>30%) spray to keep them away. Ipswich in August is a good spot for them.

When are you moving down here? Give me a call when you arrive in the office.

Oh you'll find out. They are straight from hell. They'll clear a beach faster than the word shark.
Anyone know if these are what are known as horseflies in NY? Golden brown body, bright green eyes. Used to bite me when I got out of the pool when I was a kid. Bites take a chunk out of your skin and hurt like it too.
Sounds like the same bug. Where in New York were you? I thought these greenheads were only found in coastal marshes and adjacent areas.

corkers for wading rocks and jetties
Long Island-so probably the same bug.
