View Full Version : Monomoy this weekend?
I may fish (from shore) Monomoy this weekend. I've heard it has been good. Does anyone have an idea of what it may be like this weekend. I know we can't see the future, but any help would be apprecieated. I have not fished the Island before, and plan on taking the ferry out of Outermost Harbor. Where should I fish on the island? There is a high tide around 1:00pm each day this weekend. Is low tide and the incoming tide the best time.
Thanks

Early, I'd fish the channel edges, particularly around the N island bar or Morris Island Channel. As the sun got higher, I'd make my way south and plan to work back to the north with the tide along the river, sun & current at my back.

I would suggest that you bring anything that looks like a squid. Fished the southern point of lower Monomoy Island by boat this morning and it was loaded with squid. The stripers were driving them to the top and the gulls were scooping them from the surface. There were a lot of fish in the mid to high 30" range. The bite ended around 9:30am.

Thanks for the info on Monomoy. I will be fishing from about 8:30 to 4:00 (high tide around 12:30). Is there any real disadvantage to fishing there this time of day? I was hoping to site cast to fish (assuming they are there) with the high sun (assuming that's there too).
Thanks
Ray
